The Franklin Club Hiking Trails
Explore Our Private Woodland Trails
Fishing may be at the heart of The Franklin Club, but there is plenty to discover beyond the water. Across the Club’s private 200-acre property, woodland trails wind through mature forest, quiet clearings and changing landscapes that reveal a different side of the grounds with every visit.
Members, their families and guests can set out for a peaceful morning walk, stretch their legs after lunch or spend an afternoon exploring at an easy pace. The trails offer space to slow down, listen to the forest and enjoy the simple pleasure of being outdoors, whether you are walking together, heading out on your own or taking a quiet break between other Club activities.
Each season brings something new to the experience. Spring fills the woods with fresh growth and birdsong, summer offers cool shade beneath the canopy, autumn brings rich colour across the property, and winter opens the trails to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. A walk through the forest can become part of a full day at the Club, paired with fishing, dining, time by the water or an overnight stay.
The trails are not simply a way to move through the property. They are part of what makes The Franklin Club feel removed from the pace of everyday life, offering members another way to connect with nature, with one another and with the Club itself.
Four Seasons on the Trails
The experience changes with the property. New growth and birdsong arrive in spring, the forest canopy provides shade in summer, autumn brings rich seasonal colour, and winter opens the trails to snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Discover the Purcell Trail & The South 70
The Purcell Trail
The Franklin Club’s private property offers members a wide range of ways to enjoy the outdoors throughout the year. Franklin Lake sits at the heart of the Club, surrounded by trails, fishing areas, camping and picnic spaces, overnight accommodations, parking and the Clubhouse, with Harrison Pond and Douglass Pond adding even more variety to the landscape.
Use the map to get familiar with the property, plan your route and locate the areas you would like to visit. Whether you are heading out to fish, meeting family for a meal, walking the trails or spending a night at the Club, the map provides a simple overview of how the main amenities and outdoor spaces connect.
The Franklin Club is private property for the use and enjoyment of members and their permitted guests. Please respect designated areas, Club rules and property boundaries while exploring the grounds.
The South 70 Trail
The South 70 offers members a quieter, more natural area of The Franklin Club property to explore. Its network of trails winds through wooded and open sections of the property, making it a great place for a shorter walk, a longer outing or simply some time outdoors away from the main Club grounds.
Use the South 70 map to identify the designated parking area, trail routes and property boundaries before heading out. The interconnected trail system allows members to explore different sections while still providing clear routes back toward the main access point at Herald Road.
The South 70 is private Franklin Club property and is not open to the general public. Members and permitted guests should remain within the Club’s property boundaries, respect neighbouring lands and follow all posted signs and Club guidelines while using the trails.
